  Spicy and bold with bitter spice and dark plums. Very tight-knit and structured with sweet fruit and very fine-grained tannins. The finishing touch shows lots of nuanced details. IMHO, even better than the 100-point 2016 at this stage. 94+

  A: med garnet with some bricking
  N: earth, rust, dried herbs, menthol, dried red cherry, clove/chocolate
  P: dry, 15% ABV, high firm but smooth tannins, high acidity, med (+) body
  C: outstanding = balanced dried red cherry and smooth tannic structure, pronounced intensity, med (+) concentration, long finish on dried herbs. Drink now or hold for another 10 plus years.

  This is really still way too young - if you open this now, give this at least a 3 hour decant... This has a very complex nose but without enough air the palate is quite harsh from a tannin standpoint. This was better on the second day but it feels like it could really develop a lot more complexity with age given how structured it is.
