The nose on the 1986 Flaccianello della Pieve is beautiful in its maturity, showing dusty earth, savory sous bois, cedar, and dried herbs. It displays wonderfully soft textures, with dark-dried red berries, minerals, inner florals and a hint of iodine, and then tapers off with medium length, brisk residual acids and minerals that linger on.

Killer aromatics that only a 30+ year old wine can deliver. Dried tobacco leaf, spice, dried herbs, anise seed, and mature cherry. Palate is alive and kicking with smooth medium body fruit and good moderate acidity. Tannins are melted away and resolved. Delicious herb and tobacco filled finish. This is terrific but I'd drink now - can only see downside from here.

Past its prime but still enjoyable. Subtle flavours of Asian spice and soy and still has a fresh acidic finish but the flavours are dull

EWS: A Study of Sangiovese with Ian D'Agata: Open, but unfocused; comes off as washed out, raisiny. Taste of prunes, steeped tea.

(SF Tuscany offline @ Bacco) No notes, but I thought this showed very well considering its age.
