Nose is fruit-forward with creamy mixed-berry compote over graphite, cigar wrapper and a note of toasted marshmallow. On the palate there is a definite step down in tannic concentration from the 2016 I had a couple of weeks ago. This 2017 is able to be popped and poured. There is, however, a wonderfully refreshing acidity here that makes the wine feel alive in the mouth. Quaffable and a pleasure - but not one for the long haul, in my view.

Colour: medium(+) ruby Nose: intense, secondary, youthful. Cassis, blackcurrant, blackberry, maybe black plum. Cranberry. Rosehip. Menthol, blackcurrant leaf. Cedar, earth, leather, tobacco, rosemary, liquorice, sweet spice. Palate: dry, medium(+) tannins, medium acidity, medium alcohol (13%), medium bodied. Medium(+) intensity, medium length finish. Cassis, blackcurrant, blackberry, maybe black plum. Cranberry. Rosehip. Menthol -- cooling and fresh, blackcurrant leaf. Cedar, earth, leather, tobacco, rosemary, liquorice, sweet spice. Conclusions: very good to outstanding. Beautifully drinkable -- good, old-fashioned claret. Great with a roast rack of lamb. Can drink now, but suited to further ageing. Would love to revisit this in 10 years' time! Seal: natural cork

Just a quick impression but this was very pleasant drinking. Red berries, a little cool but not too green, some spice. Drinking well at the moment though clearly no rush to finish them off.
