Nose is fascinating, a blend of meaty savoriness, Dr. pepper sweet spiciness with red fruit, orange and vanilla. Necco wafer chocolate overtones, and a hint of rosehips.
There are no real tannins to speak of, and yet this remains a bit tight, and bound up. Plenty of mouth cleansing acid drives the long finish with its earthy edges and core of red fruits. Very well balanced, completely fresh, with a dusty finish. Great food wine, holds its alcohol well. Really quite a delicate wine, though it does not lack intensity of flavor. Burgundian in that sense. Gains some floral accent notes on the finale.

Youthful nose with distinct Piemontese feel to it. Dark cherry, rose petals, forest floor, leather, cocoa powder and some balsamic spice.
Medium-weight palate with piercing acidity and smooth tannins. Very good intensity with lots of tart black berries, moist soil and cocoa powder. A straight forward and easy-drinking Barbera without being simple. Drinking great right now but could develop further with some short-term aging.

PnP to replace a wine to take to dinner.
Color still has a purple cast to it, deep.

A very nice barbera with a bit of a serious tone. I love Elio Sandri wines…

Solid Barbera d'Alba. Very young, but still enjoyable.
