  • I would like to second the eloquent review by Hodby from 2015, and add that this wine is still at its peak of drinking pleasure. The drinking window suggested by Cellar Tracker is wildly off target, at least for well-cellared bottles. The wine is fabulous now, explosively fragrant, full of fruit and mellowed tannic structure, and at no risk of collapsing anytime soon. Baby Clape Cornas.

  • Medium red color. Pungent nose, powerful and rich: wood smoke, raw beefsteak, menthol, olives, tar, dried cherry. On arrival, medium-low tannin and balanced acidity. In the mouth, everything from the nose repeats, with the fruit taking a more prominent position than the smoke and meat elements. Big mint and menthol in the mouth. Good finish but the empty glass is left with a coating that exudes an aromatic powerhouse after just an hour's air. Lovely. Bottle #11 of twelve.

  • Medium red color. Immediately a meaty nose, slightly smoke-y, game-y and herbal-floral as well. On arrival, medium low tannin and medium acidity, slightly tipped up. Flavors of roast pork, mixed mints and menthol, olives, baked cherry and plum, tar and a little copper penny. Medium finish. We wanted to drink these while they are in The Zone, and this is The Time. This particular bottling passes for Cornas un nearly any fine vintage other than the finest in a decade, and at one-third the price.. Bottle #10 of twelve.

  • Medium red color. Earthy, meaty and floral nose; this bottle is ideally mature to my taste. On arrival, medium-low tannin, medium-low acidity. Camphor and olive notes in the mouth now harmonize the meat and earth still present and presented in prior bottles. Terrific balance, strong tar and olive on the finish, character befitting the finest vintage in the region in the decade either before or since. Eyes closed, this is a fine Cornas. Bottle #9 of twelve.

  • This was compelling wine with tar, brett, roasted smoked beef, raw beets, pink peppercorns, stewed red berries, and blueberry pie, schist, wet dirt. Great with roast pork but, with smoked blueberry chutney, and smoked tri tip, boiled potatoes, roasted corn with cojtilo cheese and fresh parsely. The clarity of the wine was gone. Cloudy and serious bricking. Good finish and length with tart cherry.
