This was a beautiful example of bordeaux, with a nice earthy funk in the nose complimented by rich dark fruit on the palette and wasn't shy on the minerals / earth / leather. Those looking for a flashy wine would not be as enamored as I am, but the flavor profile is exactly what I like. Very ... distinguished as opposed to flamboyant. This is just beginning to show some maturity so I wouldn't be surprised it drinks even more beautifully with more aging.

Deep purple color, but already fading on the rim. Aromatic nose with a spicy feel to it. On the palate: red berries, creme de cassis. Decent structure and finsish. Overall a pretty respectable St. Estephe '01, but on the lighter side. Drink now-2014
