2nd time that I have encountered this cuvée in 2 different vintages with the same impression. We could of course debate the fact that the restaurant where I had this 2016 served it to me too cold in an ice bucket (!!!) but the result was the same as the first time.
Discreet nose on hydrocarbons.
Straight palate, very delicate on melon, some citrus fruits and wet stone. On the other hand, I have the impression that the wine lacks substance once again, leading to a flinty finish and a beautiful minerality but without anything transcendent.
Good riesling but nothing more. Short and lacking substance even when warming up. Perhaps I simply don't understand anything about this cuvée.

Wines drunk around London; 1/3/2024-1/7/2024 (London, UK): Deep and succulent right away as it permeates in the glass with liquid rock, meyer lemons, a touch of oily notes, red apples, quince, gunflint, spiced pears, jasmine, apple blossoms, and some saline. The Full bodied feel is deep and silky with mouthwatering, high acidity that is coming into balance. This is a real beauty. It’s beginning to hit its stride and has many years ahead of it.

(tasted blind) Mostly dry, with just a little RS that rounds out the texture rather than adds much sweetness. Classic aromas and flavors petrol, lemon, lime, and jasmine flower, with the addition of a leesy brioche creaminess. On the palate I get a crisp green apple character as well. Very elegant, a little austere. Curious what would be an idea pairing for this, would be fun to try again with the right food.

Tasted blind. Loads of peach, petrol, lees, jasmine flower, intense perfume. Felt dry (but not surprised to learn there are 2 g/L residual sugar). Ever so slight tertiary note of oxidized brown apple, but mostly zippy green apple. Perfume is almost a little too intense on the palate (verges on soapy -- but not in a bad way). Correctly guessed it to be Riesling from Alsace. This tastes expensive! And honestly, at $90 is a pretty good value.

Kind of expected more from this wine. It’s sort of hollow and feels incomplete relative to other vintages. It lacks fruit and finishes dry and short. Curious if age will lead to improvement. Will sit on other bottles for a few years to assess.
