Glad I have another bottle of this. When I first stuck my nose in the wine I thought Burgundy. Really had that nose of funk and sour cherry of maybe a 83 Volnay. Somewhat wet vintage but very sucessful wine. Classic Rayas. Soft with hardly any tannins, but very wide on the palate. Started to go into decline after about two hours being opened but absolutely delicious.

With this bottle, we began an unfortunate series of red wine events. Medium ruby with browning. The nose-ugh! Musty, mousy aromatics that I associate with hail exposure. Similarly hard, bitter, and charmless on the palate. Where's the Rayas in this Rayas? Undrinkable.
