At a wine group dinner for 8 people, we had the following, 2011 Paul Jaboulet Aîné Hermitage Blanc Chevalier de Sterimberg, 2007 Turley Wine Cellars Charbono Tofanelli Vineyard, 2005 Turley Zinfandel Contra Costa County Duarte Vineyard, 2007 Domaine Paul Autard Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Juline, and the 2010 Paul Jaboulet Aîné Crozes-Hermitage Domaine de Thalabert. All the wines were opened at the restaurant, about 20 minutes before we poured the first one. For the reds, we drank them one at a time, then came back and had them again to see how they evolved.
So surprised at how much life was left in this. Despite the high alcohol 15.4%, it didn't feel hot. Much different than the Charbano that preceded it.

Red in color. 15.4% ABV. Heady, port like aromas of plums, red fruits, prunes and pepper. The wine shows a touch of heat but still some nice acidity. Raspberry compote, crushed strawberry purée, licorice and white pepper on the palate. Subtle tannins on a swift finish. Drink soon.

Opened with Pizza. Dark red. Like opening a jar of smuckers....ripe raspberry dominates, with secondary oak, tar, strawberry reduction, burnt sugar. Barmbly, wild and ripe fruit on a long finish. Tasty at this point. Wow, day two the sour notes come to the fore - pucker power deluxe. Secondary overripe plum and sour cherry, with creosote and tarberry. Given this quick evolution overnight, I would say this is definitely at or past peak and should be consumed in one setting. Overall a delicious bottle.

Delicious Turley zinfandel. Dark red in color. Dark fruit and licorice on the nose. Dark cherry, chocolate, raspberry, blackberry, and oak on the palate, finishing with pepper, tar, and licorice. Decent acidity. High alcohol shows through. Very rich.
