Earthy but somewhat subtle aromas, woods, pine, wild berries; silky smooth mouthfeel with resolving tannins and nice medium lift in the end; in good shape but I think this wine was never a blockbuster. 91+ At Petit Trois w/Stf, with trout amandine and the big mec.

Drank the second bottle and wow what a difference! Double decanted for ~4 hours. Dark red color, pure and we’ll balanced. I wish I had another bottle ! Drinking very well now with a good long decant, has years to go still.

Great nose, definitely showing terroir. On the palate it feels austere however. The grip is angular and the fruit feels unripe. Surprising for the vintage. I think the tannins will polish with some additional time but not sure if the fruit will linger. Only time will tell.

Last night's dinner with my wine group included the 2005 Faiveley Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers. It was opened, but not decanted for an hour before pouring. Elegant with a long finish, notes of orange peel, and red cherry, A beautiful nose. Enjoyed by everyone. WS's review mentioned smoke-laced fruit, which none of us picked up.

May have been an improperly stored bottle? The wine was attenuated and had a dry brief finish. Oddly enough it had a wonderful burg nose but the fruit was gone and it tasted over the hill! I have another bottle ( unfortunately it’s from the same source ) so I’ll give it a try too.
