Dinner at Chengdu Impression (Chicago, IL): Eymael's version is a huge step down from Hans-Leo's. Sweet and big, as a lot of 2003s are (so admittedly there is a handicap there) and while this seems to retain some of that mineral core, this is relatively simplistic and straight-up sweet without enough counterweight. To be clear though, I'm not accusing this of being too sweet or lacking acidity. It's just not complex enough to handle the amount of sugar it has.

Seeing the recent notes here on CT prompted me to pull a bottle of this for a recent tasting and this wine was close to being the group favorite. No signs at all of what I thought to be a hot/flabby vintage. The grapes were handled exceptionally, and gives everything that you crave from a Mosel riesling. Many years still ahead for this fantastic wine!

In a very nice spot. The sweetness and petrol seem to have faded since the last bottle 7 years ago. Not as dark in color as I would have expected. In a good drinking window, but I see no reason to think it needs to be drunk up in the mid term. Sometimes these off dry German rieslings seem immortal

Potpourri of (Mostly) Old World Riesling (Los Gatos, California): Full yellow. Light to medium weight. Spice and white flowers. Expressive citrus, apple, and vanilla bean, moderate residual sugar. Impressively vibrant and delicate for a 2003.

Sweeter than expected given the other comments, but impeccably balanced with plenty of acidity. Went quite nicely with Sichuan chili oil dumplings.
