Primary nose of dark red fruits, violets with hint of wood. Loads of ripe pinot fruit with good balance. Chewy tannins suggest it will need a few years to soften but so delicious now.

Burgundy Finale (Wine Exchange - Orange, CA): This shows a deep yet soft red core in the glass with somewhat reticent aromas of perfume, red berries, and minerals. The palate is more open with intriguing perfumed floral flavors combining with the essence of crushed slate leading into sweet cherry on the long finish. This wine easily has the most unique and compelling flavors of the tasting. Closing down but still amazing and offering unlimited potential. 94+

Medium color. A little reduced on the nose, along with earthy, dark fruit and some wood spice. Elegant weight and mouth feel, rounder and more harmonious at present than the Gallois Charmes. Tannins not intrusive so that the finish is fairly long even now. This should turn out really well; I've been impressed with both '05 Giroud Grand Crus I've had from this vintage.

(Camille Giroud Charmes-Chambertin) Very dark garnet red color; entrancing, sweet ripe cherry, roses and rosehips nose; very tasty, rounded red fruit, cherry palate, not likely a long ager; medium finish 91+ pts.
