This is an excellent Côte Rôtie in its prime. Indeed, with its still vigorous and pristine colour and lively fruit and firm structure, I would guess to be much younger that its 18 years, were it not for the fact that there are no asperities and that T-L's notoriously heavy oak treatment is fully integrated to the extent of being scarcely perceptible. All the right Côte-Rôtie features are present, such as a heady bouquet of steely cherry, grilled meat and violets. The medium/full body carries still vigorous savoury fruit, lively acidity infused with aromas from the nose together with ivy and a fine backbone leading to firm and long finish.
PS I am bemused by some of the previous TNs, some from several years ago, suggesting that this wine was over the hill. Faulty bottles, I think.

Similar to previous notes. Spice, old fruits, some tangy acid and green capsicum. Might have always been a touch underipe. Not great but not going anywhere.

Nearly two years on, I have nothing to add to my previous TN. This wine is holding up very well and is very good.

End of it's useful life. Light, peppery, mine rally red fruits, fading on the finish. Some green fruits come through on the finish.
