  Needs an 8 hour decant at a minimum. Fabulous wine. Smoky black pepper and earth. Great with beef, lamb, or blue cheese.

  I just opened the second bottle of my three pack, and my impressions are pretty much the same as the last bottle, although it does seem a little more open now than it was at the start of the year. This remains a genuinely excellent wine. 93-94pts.

  I had Tardieu-Laurent’s Coronas from the same vintage the other week and boy are these chalk and cheese. Where the Cornas was immediately fragrant and elegant, this is all coiled power, needing a lot of air to come out of its shell. Intensely fruited, with purple berries and spice on the nose, this has a long, plush, well structured palate. Beautifully ripe with the (just) 13.5pc abv keeping everything in balance. A relative bargain at just over €40 with a long life ahead. 94+ pts
