  • Over two days. This stately Barolo offers intoxicating perfume, generous fruit, and riveting structure. Expansive and gripping middle and back. The second day revealed sous-bois (truffle and mushroom), worn leather, and quality tobacco. Strikingly pure, great balance, layered, and long. This bottle had two decades of life ahead of it.

  • Drank after 4-5 hours in the decanter (seems like more breathing time is not the way to go with this wine given my 2 other reviews). The color is a light crimson with orange tones at the edge. The nose has leather with hints of cranberry and spice (cumin?) and a whiff of phenolics and alcohol. The palate has cranberry and a hint of honey for a bitter/sweet pair. The tannins have mouth-drying prominence. The acid is medium+. There is a general lack of balance in this wine. Maybe after several more years in the cellar? Alcohol 14%. This was different from my previous 2 reviews with ratings an inverse of breathing time.

  • Tasted 2.5 hours after decanting. The color is ruby red with slight brown edges. The nose has dark cherries and a whiff of mineral, maybe some pencil lead. The palate is a bit flat with cranberries, a bit of herbal something, moderate tannins and some acid. Not well-balanced. The medium length finish has a tannic dryness without much fruit. Alcohol 14%. This experience was different from my previous review—only real difference was in airing times. Seems like less is more.
