  Some Wine Tasted at the Acker La Paulée Auction (Maybourne Hotel - Beverly Hills CA): Tasted at auction. I was skeptical, given how firm most 2005s are still today, but wow, what a pleasant surprise. So charming, so engaging, this has gobs of bright red fruit with silky structure in the near background. Very good length. Very good already now, with further upside.

  Nose of flowers red fruit and minerals. Perfectly balanced crunchy red fruited palate. The more powerful side of Chambolle but excellent. After 2 hours even more open and vibrant. Still a little structure - long life ahead.

  Powerful nose of grilled meats and iron. Rich concentrated wine, with deep dark flavors and great length. A classic wine that reminds me of Bonnes Mares and certainly knocking on the door of GC quality. This should improve over the next 3-5 years but not a waste to sample a bottle now.

  Drinking wonderfully after a 1-2 hour decant, peaked at 4-5 hours
  Lovely integrated soft dark fruit, violets, earth... heaven
