  • Waited too long. Will see if it smooths out in a decanter for a bit.

91 pts

  • This single vineyard Private Reserve should have been consumed 5+ years ago. It has faded and lost it's earlier complexity. It had tough competition the night of the tasting, so it may have seemed better by itself. (It was the last bottle to be finished) It did show some fruit and some earthiness, with a short finish.

  • Popped and poured. Color is plummy purple, just starting show some age and fairly translucent. Nose a bit more forward than last time, with the same cocoa, red fruits and mint along with a hint of cassis and bordeaux-like earthiness. Palate is showing a little more intensity on the attack, with red fruits, cocoa and some cedar, and the tannins are better integrated. Nicely balanced, but the midpalate is a little hollow and the finish dies out a bit too quickly. Overall, an enjoyable wine, but not worth the money. 5+13+15+6.
