  • 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc

Very deep ruby, some pink/purple to the rim

Deeper nose, has a warmth and some stewed (not jammy) fruit; beautiful crème de cassis feel, raspberry too and rose. Very good lift. Herb and kirsch; fresh, more tea, cool.

Medium ++ body, super energy, feels detailed, spicy and stimulating. Gorgeous balanced fruit – lots of red elements, great lift… so much concentration, great fragrance, long and fine. Feels special. Some savoury tang, this is layered long and excellent.

  • Bill & Crew - Offline #1 (Sydney, Australia): Blind. Graphite, redcurrant, chocolate and menthol. Palate is a bit awkward at the moment with the acidity standing out and not feeling well integrated with the sweet, ripe fruit. Wouldn't have picked it as Coleraine ever. Maybe just going through an odd phase but wasn't promising today.

  • Pnp. Compact/dense cab sav merlot. Dark fruits and hint of tobacco. Obviously young but has great potential. Hold for 3-5 years+. 93-95+

  • A seamless assemblage of fruits. Structural but not intrusive oak. Soft supple and fine tannins. Exceptionally good.

  • A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (52%), Merlot (33%) and Cabernet Franc (15%). Aged for 17 months in predominantly new oak barrels. 13,5% alcohol, 5,5 g/l acidity and pH 3,54.

Somewhat translucent and luminous ruby red color. Dry, somewhat dusty and slightly restrained nose with aromas of ripe redcurrants, some juicy dark fruits, a little bit of fresh blackcurrant, light woody notes of pencil shavings and a hint of dusty wood. The wine is firm, structured and quite textural on the palate with a medium-to-moderately full body and quite intense flavors of ripe red plums, some wild strawberries, light woody notes of pencil shavings, a little bit of brambly black raspberry, a hint of extracted woody bitterness and a touch of sour cherry bitterness. The wine is pretty structured with its high acidity and ripe yet quite grippy tannins. The finish is long, dry and moderately tannic with intense flavors of redcurrants, some sour cherry bitterness, a little bit of savory wood spice, light umami notes of bloody meat, a hint of ripe blackcurrant and a touch of toasty oak.

A very nice, serious and quite structured Bordeaux-blend where the ripe fruit and new oak influence feels typical of new world, whereas the quite stern structure speaks of more old world kind of style. However, this 2018 vintage feels a bit more accessible, less tannic and more oaky than the super-impressive 2017 vintage that was tasted alongside. This, too, is a very lovely and splendid wine on its own, but lacking the sturdy seriousness of the 2017. Nevertheless, this wine, too, seems to be built for the long haul, so I can imagine this will turn out pretty great after 7-10 years in a cellar. At 84,99€, the wine feels quite pricey for the quality, though.
