Lighter in colour with a deep brick red - the colour mainly sits in the sediment now. 2.5 hour slow ox then drank over 1.5 hours. A touch of cedar and spice on the nose. Tannics fully resolved with a light acidity - overall very soft on the palate, an easy drinking wine. Lots of tertiary and umami flavours with a little sweet fruit left. Past its prime but excellent drinking - classic well aged Bordeaux blend.

Tasted directly after the dreadful 1987, this was a distinct improvement. Riper fruit and more flesh, but still vegetal. Persistent currant fruit, some cassis hints, a touch of cedar. Lean. Aging well, but not a generous wine.

At M. Clayton's 1989 tasting with the team and J and Liz. Minty, touch of farmyard. Lean and flavourful, good balance. No structure but nice flavours - very disappointing 15/20 - blown away by the St. Jerome 1989.

Well into the end of its life cycle. Brilliant nose still, not much body to it though and a little shrill on the acid but well enjoyed.

House warming - first spill on carpet! Nice herbal NZ wine. Some coffee, but nothing great.
