Drunk after the 2008 Lannesan, for a point of reference, this clearly is the better wine, in terms of aromatic complexity, polish, weight, and intensity. It also comes across as far less mature, suggesting this might be s away from its apogee of development. Knockout nose that feels like very high-class, herbaceous Bordeaux, but the palate has a bright acid note that is refreshing, but felt forced compare to the more modest, but perhaps more gentle countenance of the less-expensive Bordeaux. 92+ - needs time!

Tasted alongside 2009 Woodlands Margaret this has a bit more depth, more oak, less freshness, more alcohol (though both labels say 13.5%). That said, they are wines of the same ilk, downunder Bordeaux styles. And very good.
It’s only just kicked off its youthful fruitiness. Quite a long way to go before it develops prominent aged character.
13.5%, cork

Marc’s description as ethereal resonated. Still deep garnet without noticeable bricking. Smooth, almost chalky mouth feel. Elegant rather than exuberant. PnP so didn’t get a sense of how it will develop

Outstanding and very classy. Herbal, with a distinct green pepper streak which beautifully complements the fruit. Classic tannic structure, very much in line with Bordeaux, as is the overall weight of the wine. The fruit quality is certainly not that of Bordeaux, being more herbaceous, and just slightly less dense. Very impressive. No hurry on the last bottle at all..
91 pts
