Light red with a tinge of brown. Clean and clear. Initially very oaky nose but opens up to red fruit, leather and flowers. Palate red fruited, leather, spice and floral scents. Light but with balanced high acidity and a long finish with drying tannins. There’s great intensity and balance despite a high 15% alcohol. Tasted 3 days later, the wine is still very fresh. The flowers have bloomed and the lovely and lively sweet red fruit dominates the oak which has receded into the background. Very impressive. This is a keeper.

Stylistically this is midway between the traditionalists and the modernists. Nice wine without being great. Not enough weight, power or purity to lift it to the higher levels of Piedmont wines.

Perhaps a bit young to drink right now, but couldn’t help myself and corovined a glass. Wow, what a delicious Barolo this is! The light ruby colour belies the intensity of the wine, with aromas of ripe red fruit, potpourri and spices that leap out the glass. Lovely and silky in the mouth, with the inevitable tannins of a young Barolo, but already perfectly pleasant. Long spicy finish, this is a real joy, but should be even more special after a few more years.

Upon opening cherries, oak, so decanted an hour, mint, tar, gamey & earth, a young lovely Barolo, not complex but fun to drink
