Even though this was a 2015 it was already starting to go brick in color and was quite translucent.
Lots of fruit and berries with black cherry, raspberry, strawberry, plum and blackberry, but it’s really the secondary and tertiary notes that’s starting to take over with oak, tobacco, dark chocolate, leather and earthy mushroom. Super high and lovely acidity and quite bold and expressive with a grippy tannin bite but very welcoming and open!

Lone dinner at Dulcis Vitis in Alba. Never had the producer (or heard of) but suggested with my amazing beef/pork/rabbit ravioli in Ragu. The wine was the most modern I had on this trip- and perhaps not my stay Le however together with the dish- outstanding pairing. The wine supple and velvet in the mouth like a great Bordeaux but distinctive Barolo with dark red cherries, menthol, herbs, good acidity and so round supple tannins- in a perfect place. Is this a wine to buy and hold- Umm no. Is this a wine to seek out at a restaurant, hells yes. Yum.

A modern style of Barolo. Medium ruby in glass. Notes of tar, menthol, and black cherry. Medium intensity on the nose. Medium acidity and medium plus tannins. Medium finish.

Not your typical Barolo. Definitely New World. Deep, dark and rich. Really came to life after a couple hours of decant.
