Dark berry fruit, cedar, tobacco, and hints of mint with an earthy finish. This is in a real sweet spot. Bold fruit for a Cab in a New World style, nevertheless this has Bordeaux characteristics as well. Yum.

Piedmont wines: Ringer bottle. Guessed as a new-world Bordeaux blend since this was rather souped up with oak use and densely extracted. The fruit was obscured and lacked freshness.

In prime drinking window now with lots of primary dark berry fruits , spice, earthy minerals, spices on the nose, silky smooth texture with and juicy fruit feel, well integrated tannins, subtle bitterness , medium acidity and a long finish

(2/7/21) This wine showed a fair amount of bricking at the rim of the glass as well as a general lightening of color. On PnP, the nose was very reticent, barely showing smoke and dark cherry, and the tight, thin palate was the same. There was very little tertiary stuff going on here. The bottle seemed badly out of balance, running hot with alcohol and acidity in the long but drying, tannin-filled finish.
Despite all this, It felt like there was a solid bottle in there somewhere, but not having time to give it some real air and find out, I vacuum sealed it and put it in the fridge. Day 1: no score.
On Day 2, this was a very different and enjoyable wine, showing aged black cherry and plums on the much more open nose and palate. The balance was very good now, and the tertiary notes were coming out nicely, too—a touch of sous bois and a little menthol. It also seemed to have put on weight overnight and no longer felt thin. The tannins were still drying in the finish, though.
In the end, this was a very nice wine. I’m glad a gave it a second chance. 14% abv. (***+/16/92)

Very smooth tannins, with plenty of fruit. Cocoa and espresso.
