It's A Boy! Just kidding! (Mi Casa): I was actually a tad surprised by this bottle. I have a sort of biased perspective of what Carter is. Don't get me wrong, I really like Carter for what it is. But, since everything we drank today was initially blind, it made for some interesting notes and maybe a tad contrary to my normal notes that I often get from a Carter bottling. Dark fruits, lovely nose, young. I thought this could use a bit more time in bottle and I do see upside for this.

Stylistic '18 blind (The Sumoba compound): N: Blue fruits and aromatic fresh plums, fresh floral floor. Clean, pure gummy in a good way (without the starchy and plastic-y? powdered texture it usually comes in).
P: Similar fresh plums dark purple from the nose, a mix of deep earth, savory graphite and wet minerals. Fresh, brightness on the finish, almost like neon note in a good way. Neon characteristic goes away with time and turns into something darker.
This reminds me of the quirky friend. A little different at first, but with time, you get it and you don't know why you minded in the first place.
Thank goodness this wasn't as tannic as when I last tried this. It still was strong, but it wasn't a complete wall of wood, where it completely blocks off the passage to flavor town. Ranked 3rd in the lineup.

Very enjoyable with the 3-4 hours of air it got. Redder than the Carter LPV from last night. Maybe a touch silkier, too. There is a hint of To Kalon here but wish there were more. It's very filling, very smooth and very good. I'm sure another year or two in bottle will further benefit it, too.

Mark1NPT opened this for us last night. Very fun evening. Four hour decant. Very deep dark purplish magenta color. Blueberry, blackberry, anise, baking spice, and toasty caramel on the nose. Smooth, tongue drying palate. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish.
Youthful, fruit forward, well made Napa CS produced with terrific fruit. With that said, it lacks distinction in regard to other Carter CS. Hopefully Bevan will fix this in 2021 and beyond. I do expect this particular bottle to continue improving for several more years and it was tasted alongside other very nice bottles.

Agree with others, forget about this for a couple of years. Still a bit thin but quite tasty.
