Pinched, drying, not expressive – we should have drank up 10 years ago! (storage was perfect and cork and ullage were equally perfect – just not an interesting wine, I'm afraid.)

What a difference a little time makes! This has come around and settled down nicely. Classic Fonbadet. I would say the drinking window is starting. This was from a 375.

Very dark red/purple color. Decanted for an hour and drank 2+ glasses over 90 minutes more. A nice little wine from Jean Calvet out of Pauillac. 60% CS, 20% M, 15% CF, 3% PV, 2% Malbec. The nose is pleasant, with plenty of earth and minerality, funk, leather, dark red cherries, and it develops a bit of floral perfume. The palate has a nice gravelly minerality, dark cherry fruit with some blueberry and hints of cassis. There's some funk, pencil lead, and dry fine grain tannins along with some softening oak. Finishes medium plus. Drank well and showed some good complexity if lacking a bit of overall refinement. This appears to be in a good spot, and despite suggestions the window is closing, i think this might get a little better over another 1-2 years. I wouldn't be in a big hurry.

Drank from 375. This was overwhelmed by the brett -- I couldn't appreciate its finer points, assuming it had any.
