Decant and rest. Wonderful light vanilla on the nose with a solid minerality behind. Palate is warm and full but somehow the finish is taught and vibrant. Great energy and verve. This has the beautiful balance of yin and yang. Everything is just dialed up to 9. I think the only drawback is that the vintage is shoehorned in between 17 and 20 which both hit it out of the park, so 9/10 has a tendency to get a bit lost.

Refined, elegant, precise. Has terrific texture, very polished. This is a superb Chevalier but it’s young. While drinking well now, the greatness is probably 3-5 years away. I actually preferred the '20 Corton-Charlemagne tonight, despite it being a year younger and in magnum it was more accessible and developed.

Tasted during a visit to the estate. Limited wines on offer given the devastating 2021 vintage which saw the loss of ~60% of the volume due to frost. Otherwise, we were told 2021 was a more classic, early drinking vintage.
As there was no 2021 Chevalier left, we had to retort to 2019. Mineral profile with citrus, apple and pear fruit. Notably more intense and detailed than the rest of the line-up. Buttery and elements of smoke and anis. The palate with a creamy texture, structure, depth and broad presence. Of the few recent vintages I have tasted from this wine, 2014 remains my favorite followed by 2018 with 2019 closely behind.
