  • 9 months since my last bottle. 30 min decant. Unfortunately this was a slightly off bottle but was still acceptable. Missing the depth and concentration that this wine generally gives you. O well
Checked in on this at hour 4 in the decanter and it significantly improved. Probably not a perfect bottle but much better. Best to give these a ton of air.

  • Super dense pineapple and melon, rich nearly buttered, with almost enough acidity to make this sing but as it is enough to make it work. Always a unique wine!

  • Served blind. Bright in color with tons of tropical fruit, a hint of reduction, and moderate acid. I immediately thought this could be Alsace Riesling or even Chenin, as Sauv Blanc isn't exactly a wine my friend buys (then again, neither are Alsace Riesling/Chenin). A bit hollow on the palate, which threw me off. Regardless, this was delicious, and pretty confusing!

Surprise reveal as Mondavi I Block, a wine I'd been eager to try. Awesome blind, and a great experience to finally try this!

  • A full bodied sauv blanc with incredible depth. I decanted this for 2 hours before drinking and it needed every bit of that. At hour 5 it was still unfurling from the decanter. This is about 2-3 years out from its prime and will drink well for another decade. Revisit 2025

  • Initially a little rubbery on the nose, but that blew off with some time.

Lots of tropical fruit - pineapple, lychee, honeydew, and passionfruit. Enjoyable, and I could see this being a great accompaniment to seafood (crab, lobster, etc.), though we had it with pho.
