I Belive this would need a day or two of decanting, not only a couple hours were enough... !!! Sadly, compared to the 2000 we had earlier that year... this showed very poorly, mainly the nose, as it was tar like, but very veggie tar... burned prunes, cooked mint... very complicated, when the palate shows promising bits... with liquorice and big fruity greasy palate... still a deception...

We underestimated the decant, needs a couple of hours. Also, consider using a filter, even after standing for some time, lots of suspended sediment that led to a more bitter taste than before the filtering. On the nose, dark chocolate, dried plums, savory herbs like spearmint, a little spice. Plenty of tannin and structure left, disagree with comments re: being sweet, acid actually a little bigger than the fruity characteristics. Very nice wine, need to compare next to the '98 which was spectacular, think they are fairly different

2-3 hour decant. Chocolate, a little coffee, licorice, sweet. Hard to compare an Amarone to almost anything else. Sweet and rich enough to be a dessert wine and reminded me a little of 1946 Toro Albala Don PX.

Best Amarone i've had so far. Very powerful wine with a hint of fruity and sweet together with strong smooth tannin.

Disappointed. Mute and not showing to well. Improved in the glass but did not impress to the level one would expect.
