Fida La Fleur Petrus lunch w/Christian (Charlie Bird): Probably my favorite of the tasting. There's a bit more acid here than in some of the other wines and it comes across as almost a bit light (or dare I say Burgundian?) in nature. Fresh and complex and different in style than what I'm used to but very enjoyable.

Top shoulder in magnum format. Wine opened for 45 mins and lasted for 2.5 hrs. Cork still in good condition. Started with tea leaf, light mint and berry and switched to leather, sous bois and chocolate. Even in large format, should consume in the next 2-3 years.

The redcurrant, mulberry, bitter chocolate and Christmas pudding spice notes suggest what the 70 La Fleur-Petrus might have been like at its apogee. However, the extent of the old oak, leather, and mulched leaf notes, more conspicuous on the palate, suggest a wine that’s 20 years past its prime. Wooly 1970 tannins. Some pleasure here without a doubt, but fading. Base neck fill but the cork comes out very easily - so perhaps better examples can be found? Perhaps.

Correct, fully mature, easy to drink, earthy, tobacco tinged, cherry and mushroom-filled, medium-bodied wine that is fully mature and requires drinking. For the vintage, I was hoping it would be better.

Decent, but clearly fading, this is a wine that needs to be consumed much sooner than later. Medium bodied, with a but too much acidity, the earthy, cherry and tart plum notes, with their truffle accent were barely hanging on.
