  • Bought at cellar door. This bottling is the combination of all Albesani, including vigna Borgese since that area was hit by a hailstorm. Therefore in 2017 there will be no Vigna Borgese bottling. This detail is a premise to the wine, which is quite lean at this point.

Pale to Medium Ruby. Nose of cherries, this is the very first dominant note right away. Also noticeable a bit of white pepper below that as it warms up and opens up becomes violets. Also some pungent balsamic, a little paint and a bit of candybar. Cherries also on the palate, quite astringent tannins that leave a pleasant dry mouth. Plenty of acidity. Aftertaste of almond and warmth from alcohol. The wine is well-made conditional of the fruit they had available. This said, it is very lean, almost watery with brisk acidity not supported by the body, it is also quite simple, I guess that they did their best to cope with the consequences of the hailstorm. It is a bit too young to consume now, but I would not hold on to it for more than 5-7 years.
