Initially lost points because the wine was cloudy, but the bottle only had a few hours before opening to stand at attention. The nose was a bit reticent with cherry, earth, stone, and crushed dried rose petals. The wine was reasonably balanced, but more delicate than expected. There was still some acidity and tannin. This wine is at its apogee and will slowly fade over the next five to seven years. Overall, some dried light fruits, with hints of cherry, raspberry and leather with a medium finish. 3-8-7-17

'89 Barolo is always a treat, but the '89 Cordero di Montezemolo Enrico VI is simply amazing tonight. Aromas of dried cherry, cedar, leather, mint, mushroom and forest floor rise up from the glass. On the palate it's just entering it's drinking window, still vibrant with a hint of gripping tannin. Long on the finish with dried cherry and hints of spice. It's in a beautiful place tonight.
