Community Tasting Notes (6) Avg Score: 87.4 points

  • Appearance: Pale Lemon
Nose: Med intensity; Aromas of floral (elderflower, citrus blossom), stone fruit (ripe peach, apricot), tropical (melon), dried herb, anise, lees (yogurt), and tertiary (orange marmalade, petrol).
Palate: Dry, Med(+) acid, med alcohol, broad-shouldered med(+) bodied, med intensity, med finish. Flavors of citrus (lemon-lime), stone fruit (ripe peach), floral (elderflower), dried herb, gravel, lees (toasted sourdough), and tertiary (petrol, ginger, almond).
Quality: Good; Adequate intensity, complexity, and acidity, but flavors lack freshness, and the palate feels too broad-shouldered (lacking precision).
Aging: Not suitable for bottle aging.

  • Pretty high acidity, nose is quite closed, some floral/apple/rainwater on the nose. Granny Smith apple on the palate. Was nice with dinner. Solid wine, just lacking some intensity of flavour.

  • Popped from a 375ml bottle. Discreet nose of some mineral. Medium bodied, dry, rather fruity, showing ripe lemony fruit and mineral notes with decent acidity. A pretty nice basic riesling, could use a little more stringency though.

  • Floral and mineral, mandarin oranges, green apple. Not the most complex but well balanced and flavourful.

  • Good vintage for this and it’s a style that drinks well young without being too ripe or soft. Good (M+ to high) acid, M to M+ body, lemon, green melon, salt, fresh herb. You can tell it’s an entry level wine but it’s a good one that gives exactly what I want from an inexpensive Alsace Riesling. ~6.5/10
