Warren's B-Day Bash (Washington, D.C.): This bottle didn't show as well as the other I tried, but I still love it. Aromas of dried wax, yellow apple, apricot and minerals. The palate is full of ripping acid and minerals. Oyster shell meets dried honey meets lemon zest. Perhaps a bit tired, and time to drink up. This wine was controversial, with a lot of people saying it didn't taste like Sancerre. But I can't help but love the uniqueness of this wine.

A Rainy Saturday (Weygandt Wines - Washington, D.C.): What a crazy-unique wine. The aromas exploded with just a half-hour of air, getting better and better with each swirl. Yellow apple, apricot, limestone, coconut shell and a sweet-salty aspect. Tangy acid on the palate, along with crisp minerals. Lemon-lime and papaya meets wax, sea salt and a hint of briny oyster shell. Really fun and intellectual, and I'd love to have this with food and maybe a good decant. I tasted this blind and was all over the map: Chablis, Jura, muscadet. Vatan is the Kafka of Sancerre, and I love it.

Seemed a little tired and lacking of the great acidity that I am used to with this bottling. Still a solid bottle of wine.
