The Grosset Gaia 1998 presents a medium ruby hue with subtle brick undertones. The nose captivates with a bold, vibrant blend of plums and blackberries, offering a delightful sensory experience. The palate echoes this intensity, combining chocolate and leather notes with the lush fruit flavors. A long, polished finish lingers, accompanied by hints of leather and chewy tannins. This exceptional wine leaves a lasting impression. If you are holding onto this wine, suggest drinking within the next 12-24 months.
Disclaimer: I didn't bother comparing this to a bordeaux as it is a totally different wine regardless of the blend. Rated on its own merits as an excellent big Aussie red.

Finally, our patience has been rewarded. Very little of the original green leafy character remaining ....thankfully! Nice rich fruit, just enough acidity and tannin holding it together. So pleased we have 3 remaining.

Wow! Deep ruby. Good the first night but even better 24hr later. Great condition bottle. Deep dark ruby. Tons of dark berry fruits, mostly black but some black cherry and red. Fine, elegant tannins. A lovely savoury background, liquorice and meat extract. Fine acidity. Richer than many Bordeaux, but this still has a finesse. Maybe not as long or complex as great Bdx. Fabulous intensity and purity. But just a wonderful wine.

Still great, albeit at its peak. Vibrant fruit; great sweet nose and long finish; it feels like an old-school Shiraz.
