During a MOT Gantenbein Masterclass. Martha and Daniel, who single-handedly created the first high quality Swiss Wine of World renown, starting 40 years ago, walked through their Kaizen approach of work, clonal selection, vineyard and Cuvée mgmt. The wines were consistently of high quality. I wish there were more Gantenbeins in the Swiss wine landscape, especially the Romandie. TN: the 2020 and 2021 were my favorites today but only by a margin of what was a remarkably consistent line up. Both still youthful, with beautiful and very expressive noses of oak toast dark fruit. The 2020 had the denser palate yet with very good balance, a very complete wine. The 2021 was a touch lighter but with higher pitched aromatics, detecting cranberry and even citric notes. Both wonderful, both 95pt.

Opened one to check early. Incredible open for business, great and complex Pinot Noir. Wonderful fruit, wonderful structure. Will still improve with age but no shame in opening one now.

Fresh off the boat at Mövenpick wine bar, had to try this to see how their 2020 turned out. beautiful nose of red fruit, farmyard, vanilla and oak. Very young and structured, much less succulent than the 2019, this is more for the long haul. Another success of the Gantenbein Team.

Find the coffee aromatics odd.
