  • Let it breathe in glass for best flavor, good fruit nice and robust

  • Quick notes from earlier tasting.

Ripe dark cherry and plum, slightly overripe blackberry, with tobacco and leather wrapped up in soft vanilla. A wisp of toasted coconut.

Plush and velvety. A bit dull on the mid palate but nice weight. Cocoa powder bitterness on the medium finish that I enjoyed. Primary. Medium acid just enough to keep it from getting overly flabby. Powerful medium-grained tannins.

To me, this is well-made for what I payed ($20 USD) and would probably wow a lot of casual drinkers. It’s still too primary for me and lacks complexity and is missing some lift that could elevate it. I’ll probably keep some on-hand for my new-world drinking friends.
