-- uncorked and first glass poured about 1 hr. before initial taste on Day 1 -- -- tasted blind alongside another Guiberteau (’19 Breze) over 2 hrs on Day 1; revisited on Days 3 and 4 --
NOSE: Day 1: tangy, with mineral tones; medium+ expressiveness; honeydew melon; Nose seemed to close-up over the course of a couple hours on Day 1. Day 3: bright and tangy.
BODY: tan-yellow color of medium intensity (identical to other wine); {forgot to note weight – seem to recall it about medium}
TASTE: Day 1: fruity and a bit loose – doesn’t have quite the intensity of flavor I was expecting, but the finish is somewhat long and carried by mineral tones. Day 3: largely the same as Day 1: not wooly; plenty of mineral; bit loose, with medium acidity. {bags pulled at end of Day 3}. Day 4: stayed the course on Day 4. Ultimately, this vintage of Guichaux is a pass for me – it lacks the energy and density of my preferred years, and space is currently at a premium. Gut impression score: 90. Drink Now and over the near term.

Dinner with the wine group (Sole Ristorante, San Mateo): Matchstick reduction on the nose and palate, hard to evaluate right now. Left in the glass for an hour and retasted. Still subtle, showing a bit more with a little wet wool, a little white fruit. Still not showing openly and likely needs a lot more time. Hard to rate so leaving unrated for today.

Lightly chenin on the nose, fairly rich on the palate, but balanced by excellent acidity, nice touches of saline, umami, all quite classic. Chiseled fairly sharply right now, will benefit from a bit of age. Showing better on night two.

Beautiful nose of stone fruit, some lanolin Chenin characteristics and true limestone minerality. The palate is intense with medium body and a long finish. Should easily age for 1-2 decades, excellent.
