  • Lightweight, a little tart in the middle with no real precision or concentration; it delivers some juicy sweet focus on the finish. As some have said - quite herbal, which I like.

I hear that the 2021 NZ vintage in Marlborough gave a low yield (difficult spring/summer) with 'good concentration'. Well I'm not getting it with this bottle though it's certainly not unpleasant. I feel like I've had this sort of quality from Villa Maria's cheapest Private Bin PN previously.

I've a 2020 Private Bin (also Marlborough) knocking around so it'll be interesting to compare. Marlborough 2020 had a balmy spring and a long dry summer by all accounts.

This was on special offer in a British supermarket and not the usual £15.

This is certainly OK, but I can see why it was on offer.

Edit: Popped the 2020 Bin to compare - It has even less fruit focus than the 2021 Cellar Selection, but better balance, and the savoury herb is apparent here too. If memory serves I got this reduced from £12 to something like £8.99. A bargain. 86/100

  • bright fruity notes, some sweet herbals, liquorice, and earthy flavours. medium and furry tannins, solid acidity. commercial style, well polished, a little disjoint in finish, need 1-2 years to mellow, but I don't believe it will develop much in cellar.

    Ap 5/5, Ar 12/15, Palate 15/20, Overall 3+2/10
    Total 87+/100
