  • Outstanding. It's worth popping the cork just to experience the gorgeous, refined nose. Served with a 2007 Bartolo Mascarello Barolo, which I preferred on the palate for its richness. This is a more austere, classic Barolo, but it's really elegant. Ultimately, I could not decide which one I liked better.

  • First of the case. Gorgeous translucent color. Nose screaming of red fruits. Still early in its evolution. Can’t wait to pair this against a grand cru Burgundy. The palate is ver refined with red fruits dirt roses orange rind and just a hint of tar. The finish is unbelievable. This will get significantly better.

  • 1st of 12, opened an hour then decanted two, perfect cork and level - dark, translucent ruby, hint of brown on rim; rose, some violet, cherry, earth and garrigue, complex and involving; medium, long, persistent, layered, quite silky given some unresolved tannin and angularity, fresh, restrained and classy, attractive but not quite mature, upside. F+ (18).

  • This is a special wine in a special vintage. So powerful, concentrated and layered. This bottle could have seen more aeration to reach its full potential but there is no holding back the deliciousness, purity and power of Monprivato in 2004. Upside from here.

  • Decanted three hours. A little shy but a very pretty nose. The palate is stunning with flavors red cherry, mint, a little tar and herbs. The wine is satiny, well balanced and Burgundian. This is an early phase of maturity and will have a long life ahead of it.
