  • While still retaining the lighter red fruit profile, the fruit seems to have slipped since I last tasted this vintage, the acidity rising, throwing balance off. I think it may have needed more time to open up in the glass, and stoppered the remaining half bottle to retaste tomorrow... to be continued.

  • Delicious.

Vibrant cherry, bitter cherry, pomegranate, red currant flavors, remarkably fresh for 14-15 years of age. Wonderful texture, crisp acidity, so light in weight yet so full of flavor. The slightest touch of earth, but it's the kaleidoscopic layers of fruit that is front and center.

Still plenty of life in the vintage - and this a "simple" Bourgogne!

    Rated +2 on a scale of -1 to +3.

  • Surprisingly heady aromatics, yet the wine was softer than this portended. Darker in color and taste than anticipated. Fruit, still present, lacked lighter, brighter notes; though the acidity has begun to fall, the wine is still balanced, and gave pleasure in drinking.

  • Floral nose with a medium ruby red color. Does not look like a 12-year-old wine based on the color.

    Decanted for one Hour.

Taste: Still rough around the edges as the balance is only fair. Good red cherry fruit with a slightly tart finish. OK, for its level but it tastes slightly under-ripe reflective of the 2006 vintage. As is Sip I am enjoying this wine but the 2005 Les Bons Batons I had earlier in the year was a much better wine.

This Burgundy is representative of the 2006 vintage with all of its shortcomings but nevertheless, I like it for what it is. Other riper vintages are much stronger but if you have any drink up and enjoy. It has the stuffing to hold strong for several more years but is unlikely to improve.

  • Sadly this had a defective cork (crack along the side). Seal had been compromised and the wine was muddled and slightly maderized.
