This was quite good. First Clos Vougeot from MG for me. Nose showed some spice and ripe dark fruits initially, then opened to reveal more earth and forest floor alongside sweet spice, floral notes, and expanding fruit. The palate is lovely and has very good density with great balance. Clearly a powerful wine, but in no way heavy. Delicious, but no rush.

In a nice drinking window (believe it'll be better), with core fruits still taking center stage & just a tiny bit/glimpse of secondary notes setting in.

Btl-owner brought this with a chance to match (or even beat) the Leroy Beaux Monts. Blinded, I had thought this was a Vosne too, with sandalwood, spices spewing forth. Immensely rich, but yet carried itself most elegantly on the palate, this was a phenomenal wine. For me, I still preferred the Leroy nose, but it was definitely a match on the palate. This will definitely continue to evolve and get even better (there's still so much left in the "tank")!

The one with Madame Leroy (Bar a Thym): Lifted and elegant bouquet with purity of red ripe fruit, dark plums, roses with a bit of earth. Palate showing off opulence amidst concentration. Great structure with density and weight with layers upon layers of red cherries, asian spices, licorice and slight kirsh. Velvety and silky tannins with great length and finesse! Love the style here and such a pleasure! Called 2006 Echezeaux after a table mate instantly called out MG!

A good effort for a wine from the dreaded 2006 vintage. Warm and pretty on the attack - it just thins out on the finish.
