  • "Oh dear, this is special" are words fellow CT'er Tim Heaton used when describing a certain wine (you'll have to read ALL of his notes to find that particular wine ;)

This is what came to mind from the first sniff, sip, the middle of the bottle, and to the very end. For days and weeks before writing this, these thoughts remained. They will never leave because this is one of the very few, very special wines I've ever had the pleasure of tasting. This is my DRC.

What makes it so special? Well for me, it's the wine's elegance, exquisiteness, and pinpoint fine tuned focus. The acidity and balance are dare I say perfect. Such that it might almost become an afterthought, until you realize that it shouldn't. Most wines aren't configured and composed like this.

Since this wine is so very young, I gave it plenty of air prior to drinking. 18 hours with the cork off and a few hours in decanter. With my very best friend, a few other Italian wines, and awesome wood fired pizza (that helped a lot!), it made for a great evening.

Translucent garnet red appearance. Sweet red and wild berries, fresh cut flowers, and some leather on the nose. Bing cherry, strawberry, and red raspberry grace the palate. The tannins are super fine grained and the finish is savory and long-ish. With more time in the bottle, the tannins will meld further and the finish should get longerer-ish ;)

A most beautiful & refined BdM. This is special. I hope everyone gets to enjoy a bottle!

    Cheers!
