Opened the bottle at an early birthday celebration for this ‘73 vintage baby. A privilege to do so. Cork in good shape. Drinkable on opening, leathery and a bit porty, but tired quickly. No further notes or score. Still, again, a privilege to try.

A very youthful colour and fresh nose of mint and cassis. There was a hint of leathery development and a light nuttiness to the wine. The palate was energetic and super-salty. It finished with plenty of tangy, briary fruit flavours and was a treat to try.

Wynn's Black Label vertical (Frank's place in Matraville): Initially clove, mint, slightly dusty leather, even a touch of candied peel, earth. A little red currant fruit. On the palate it's fruit sweet still; more blackcurrant than the red, softly textured Juicy but not overtly so; not as green on the palate but very slight mint. Long. Pretty damned fine.
