  • Definitely at the end of life, but to me it has some wonderful sherried and maderized qualities in the best sense. The normal fruit of a Chard is gone, but it had interesting secondary flavors of baked apple and some breadiness like a Champagne, but it had good acidity and a bit of grape sweetness, the essence not the sugar, at the finish which made it nice. It even worked with some left over foie gras which may be a fault to some, but I liked it. So to the pedantic, not completely correct, but quite interesting to me.

  • Deep color, yellow gold rim. Very aromatic nose with loads of butterscotch, mushroom, baking spice... some citrus fruit in the background but overall a very tertiary, evolved nose. On the palate dry with moderate acidity, very full and broad midpalate with plenty of MLF cream and weight... low phenolics, low to moderate alcohol. High fruit intensity balances moderate amount of new barrique use... acidity just barely balances palate weight. Very good length, intensity, and complexity... good finesse, lush texture, good expression of place. Overall a very enjoyable wine that is at its peak... good detail of flavor despite full and intense nature.
