Tasted this after a vertical off the grand vins and it tasted sensational: perfumed, ripe, gorgeous tannins and beautiful balance. It is very expensive for a Rosso, more expensive, than most people's Brunellos, but I can see why. Ideally needs a few years for tannins to soften but also plenty of pleasure now.

Tasted at Wine & Spirits Top 100, NYC. I was a little confounded by this and the 2017 Brunello. Certainly good, but unremarkable…I’m guessing that I had a taste from a just opened bottle. It was hard and unyielding. A shame… at the price of this Rosso I would have liked to experience it at its best. I have always found the Biondi-Santi wines to need significant bottle age and aeration, even the Rosso. No rating.

The wines of Biondi Santi, with Federico Radi (Zoom tasting): Wine 1: Tasting sample mailed by a wine retailer for a video tasting with Federico Radi, Viticulture and Winemaking Director at Biondi Santi. 13.5% ABV. Medium ruby colour. Limited aromatics. Light floral notes, red fruit, red cherry, pomegranate, spices, light earth, and a hint of charred wood/smoke, with good acidity, fine, round tannin, and very good length. Elegant, and almost delicate. Tight and dry, as to be expected, but drinking very well in context of its youth. A beautiful Rosso di Montalcino. 90(+)

Tight and fruity on the nose, with sweet cheries and herbs. No oak tendencies (Slavonian oak used). Fruity, concentrated and firm on the palate, still very elegant. The tannins are quite pronounced, so the wine needs more time.
