Cellared this one for an extended period as a test to see how well it could age. Wasn’t disappointed. Notes of roasted meat juices, leather, baked fruits, smoke. Palate is extremely savory, fairly dense still with black bramble fruits and a black pepper spice. Distinctive earthy mineral vibe also. Well made wine.

A big boy, 15% ABV. The cork completely disintegrated. Pulling it was like trying to dig a hole in a sand dune. Mature appearance; on the nose a slightly burnt, meaty, oxidative character dominates; structurally the palate is intact, with a freshness which belies its alcoholic weight, but the flavours are quite light; ditto finish. Clearly an imperfect bottle. Not rated.

Mostly in line with the 2011. Yes ripe and perhaps getting a little porty but still in very good nick. Clean berries with licorice hints, the latter pointing to the 14.5% (which as an aside is very high high for the house). Ultimately one of those ripe shiraz wines that will plateau for a long time but never really extend beyond 'good'.

Deep ruby. Rhubarb, plum, licorice, and game on the nose. Big, ripe and somewhat spirity. Very good value in its style (full bodied, ripe, 'Aussie' shiraz) -you could pay 5x this for an equivalent wine from Barossa-but too big and hot for my tastes. A bit short, but not unpleasant on the finish. Still developing under cork. This will last for a long time yet. (88 Fair wine)
