I think 2009 as the end of the drinking window is a bit harsh. Bottle was purchased at auction and the cork was fairly depressed but the wine inside is definitely still in a good place. Decanting for an hour really opened it up with lots of ripe red fruits on the nose and palate. As it progressed throughout the night the nose got more savory, more secondary with oak, cedar, forest floor, and a slightly spicy quality I can’t put my finger on. The palate is full of ripe plums, red cherries, supple leather and plenty of acidity in the medium-long finish. This is definitely a wine that still has a decent amount of life left.
