The nose is exuberant, with notes of pine needle sap, cherry, smoked meats, musk and violets. The palate is direct, complex, voluminous and perfectly balanced. Fruits are ripe, base is stony and length superb. Fantastic balance and poise and still but a pup. Bottle number 77.

The 2000 Faiveley Musigny Grand Cru was delicious and a lot better than my last bottle of this. It too had black cherry fruit along with some purple flower notes. There was plenty of licorice and it was oh so silky in the mouth. It really built through the palate fanning out with a peacock’s tail like finish.

Is still just a pup. It is very much red fruited with plenty of floral nuance. It is a strong wine with real depth and structure. It is certainly one 2000 that could do with another decade or more in the cellar.

It is sweet, generous and forward with black cherry fruit and some baked earth. It is perhaps a little hollow in the mid-palate and quite chewy on the finish.

200 Burgundy Grand Crus from vintage 2000, 4-day blind tasting (Singapore): Very structured, earthy, tannins a bit rough and drying. Nose 93, palate 87.
