A solid, rustic, steely style of Lafleur with a tannic edge to its firm, red berries, flowers, and distinctive minty edge. Very classic and old-school in nature, the nose was better than the palate. It is going to be quite long-lived, but it is a style not suited for everyone. Drink from 2023-2050.

Funny how tastes differ. Drank this side by side to the 1998, and I scored this 95 higher than the 98. Blackish crimson color, dense wine, pristine cork, decanted and aerated for 2 hours then drank over 90 minutes. Nose of blackberries, raspberries, currants, some stone, mint and sweet spices. Lots of power and backbone on this complex wine, entering secondary phase with lots of life ahead. Almost at the same stage as it was when I last had this 10 years ago! Glacial pace of evolution. Tremendous black fruit finish, very long with tannins coated by the power of the fruit. Simply delicious.

(LAFLEUR) Pesquera Dear Friends, For the weekend send-off, we have a wine that's a return to sanity - it remains at the lowest end of the Spanish pricing spectrum despite year after year of exemplary, traditional expression and competition with upstarts at 2-3 times the price. Pesquera is what it is - classic. This is a wine that has nothing to prove, it essentially competes with itself and that's just fine for Alejandro Fernandez. The magic of this wine comes with time - cellar a few bottles of this Spanish stalwart and you will be rewarded (I am reminded of the Per Se holiday event a few years ago where a blind bottle of 1982 Pesquera Janus was called as the 1982 Lafleur by one of the most knowledgeable Bordeaux palates in the country...amazing and so was the wine - see below for more Lafleur): HIGHLY RECOMMENDED as an example that will continue to evolve with some of the more sensible pricing in Spain We have a terrific price on this wine, about the same as US wholesale: 2005 Pesquera Ribera del Duero Crianza (Tinto) While completely unrelated, the 1982 Janus made me think of this pristine set of magnums.... 1995 Chateau Lafleur 1.5lt (Pomerol) Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Spain7764 Bord8794

Decanted and drank over 3 hours. Beautiful sweet dark fruit, violets, licorice and the nose and palate. Very polished and excellent balance.

This is like;y to be a very powerful, rich lafleur but not for at least 5 years and perhaps 10. Worth putting down
