La Vie du Vin featuring Chateau Lafleur, Omri Ram, Martine's Wines, and Chef Tim Hollingsworth (Blackberry Farm, TN): My favorite of six vintages of Lafleur tasted over two days (2020, 2017, 2011, 2005, 2001, 1996). Its quality was such that I enjoyed even over vintages more advanced in their drinking windows. Omri Ram said this was his most drinkable encounter with 2005, maybe 5% into its full drinking window. Could it reach a version of perfection in 20 years? Long life ahead, but don't fear opening bottles in the near term.

Wine Group Dinner #179, Harvey's Restaurant, Brisbane. 2005 Right Bank Major Growths. A beautiful and entrancing bottle of Lafleur this wine was quite dense and dark crimson with a complex and alluring nose of blackcurrants, dark raspberry, autumn herbs, violet chocolates and touches of coffee bean and truffle. The palate was medium weight, impeccably balanced with a fine lingering finish and just a touch of minerality and tannic grip. A beautiful wine with plenty in the tank.

Superb. A longer finish would’ve been nice. Youthful playful tannins and fruit indicate another 10 years of life.

Young but excellent. Will reveal a lot more in time.
Fruit, tannins all in balance.
Come back in 5-10 years :)

Still a baby but the potential!!! Already drinking well however nuances like too much alcohol on the nose still need to be resolved. Buy to keep!
